Dr. Lorenzo Mordini, DDS, M.S., is a distinguished periodontist and educator with a passion for research and teaching. Currently serving as the Director of the Department of Periodontology at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Mordini has dedicated his career to advancing periodontal and implant therapy through clinical practice, research, and academic leadership.

Dr. Mordini graduated cum laude from the University of Modena School of Dentistry in Italy in 2008. After gaining experience in private practice, he moved to the United States, where he completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at Boston University’s Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. His commitment to specialized periodontal care led him to Tufts University, where he obtained a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Periodontology and a Master of Science degree, with a focus on Guided Bone Regeneration clinical research.
A Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, Dr. Mordini is a respected lecturer, presenting at conferences both nationally and internationally. His contributions to scientific literature, as well as his co-authorship of books on Periodontal and Implant Therapy, showcase his dedication to advancing knowledge in his field.
Dr. Mordini’s accolades reflect his commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring. As an International Team for Implantology (ITI) Fellow, he has also received the prestigious Nevins Biohorizon Fellowship, the ADEA/AAL Institute for Teaching and Learning (ITL) Award from the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation, and the AAP’s Excellence in Teaching and Mentorship Award in 2022.
With years of experience as an Assistant Professor in Periodontology at Creighton University and Tufts University, Dr. Mordini continues to shape the next generation of periodontists. His dedication to the academic and clinical aspects of periodontology underscores his commitment to improving patient care and advancing the field of periodontal therapy.
